Hard work. Majority of artists I&#8217;ve interviewed over the years have\u00a0refused to provide\u00a0clear answers. I remember working on &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/18392301\">The Second Forest Team&#8221; interviews<\/a>\u00a0back in 2010. The 5 min video\u00a0required nearly 2 hours of footage and a week&#8217;s worth of editing. Artists seem to fear that they&#8217;ll lose something when\u00a0they provide simplified answers about\u00a0their work. Perhaps they see\u00a0interviews as\u00a0magical rituals which set a\u00a0course for their processes.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically the more obscure answers artists give the more power is passed\u00a0to the editor, who is left to\u00a0craft\u00a0senseful statements\u00a0from\u00a0partially answered\u00a0questions.\u00a0When artists work\u00a0obscurely they empower art institutions. The more complex an artist presents him\/herself is the more staff is needed to build sense (Similarly, the less organized and offbeat an artist is the more\u00a0legitimate professional art institutions appear). When an artist and a group become self organized, the economic balance shifts\u00a0and they possibly begin to compete for the same funding.<\/p>\n<p>Getting\u00a0funds for making both art and sense about the art should be set as a goal for counter culture projects.
