To prevent people from taking a rest in mid Malminkartano a northen suburb in Helsinki I grew up in. They where installed during the last economic crisis mid &lsquo;90ties to prevent unemployed people from loitering &#8211; drinking beer in the district plaza. There were even wooden spikes installed to a fence next to it. As Helsinki is now the world design capital they are fixing the district up. They are optimistically installing bike-lock-stands on the plaza. I&rsquo;m pretty sure they will not be used.
