Bought the PCB from <a href=\"https:\/\/pushermanproductions.com\/product\/norns-shield-pcb-only\/\">Pursherman<\/a> (12,26\u20ac, mail inc.) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/octopart.com\/bom-tool\/Q3rQej3x\">components<\/a> from Digikey (70,74 \u20ac \/ +39,08\u20ac import duties). All together 122,08\u20ac for an entry to the <a href=\"https:\/\/monome.org\/docs\/norns\/\">Monome world<\/a>. With import fees the cost for an official kit might have risen to ~280\u20ac (+55\u20ac for a Raspi). The build went smoothly. Previous <a href=\"https:\/\/eero.storijapan.net\/docfolio\/?s=SMT\">SMD builds<\/a> paved the way and I got all the components soldered within five hours. Made a case from scrap plywood by adapting <a href=\"https:\/\/llllllll.co\/t\/norns-shield-case-designs\/30347\/183\">these drawings<\/a>. There is still some sanding to do and I have to source caps for the d-shaft p<span class=\"module__title__link\">otentiometers<\/span> and the buttons. I&#8217;m occasional some trouble running Orca and a few other scripts. I believe that a faster SD card will fix the issues but I might eventually opt to get a Raspi3+ (the Raspi3 I&#8217;m using is from the <a href=\"https:\/\/eero.storijapan.net\/docfolio\/?s=mazizone\">Mazizone build<\/a> which I&#8217;d like to keep running anyway). By enlarge everything seems to work well (including updates, running 201113).<\/p>\n<p>For the simple synths (using a keystep for midi) and effects alone a good investment. I&#8217;m hoping to <a href=\"https:\/\/monome.org\/docs\/norns\/scripting\/\">learn scripting<\/a> and if everything feels good might work myself towards <a href=\"https:\/\/monome.org\/docs\/crow\/\">a crow<\/a>. Norns feels feature packed and of course this being something I assembled, it will take time to develop a feel on what is a feature and what is a bug\/build issue.
