Pori Art Museum has published a report on the Creative Commons and Art seminar which I participated in with Kaino and Kalle Kuisma. My talk is recapped on pages 10-12 and I’m very pleased with my contribution. I claimed that “Artists do not contribute to the commons – They claim phenomenons from the commons” (artists taint phenomena and mark it as their own). I also claim that skills are production tool (for artists) and shed light on the ideological origins of Ore.e Refineries (and the COOL 1.0 license).

Working on our Ihme-days presentation with Heini and Leena, packing stuff in preparation of my New York visit, preparing next weeks Horse & Performance course with Pietari and writing a lecture/presentation for expo2001∞ (organised by Daniel Kupferberg) events at Kunstraum Argh15 (I’ll give “An Introduction to Horselogical thinking” over skype or wire). Aaand.. Learning how to make cheesecake.

Flashed Face Distortion Effect is interesting. Wonder if could be reversed: Images of faces would be distorted so that the faces that flash would appear normal.

ME AND MINE – An insight into the relationships between people and entities in Diadema, Brazil (2018) report / documentary is now complete! We looked it over today with Eleonoora and celebrated with beers. It took two months to complete and the film will be premiered in Portugal next week.

On Bullsh*t Jobs a great talk by David Graeber. He offers a useful definition for bullshit jobs (save a click: Middle management jobs are bullshit), uncovers why our society insists that people should work and explains processes which fabricate bullshit jobs. He explains that the majority of non-bullshit-work is care work and that public services which are associated with gray-infra (buss drivers, train operators etc.) engage in care work too which is why their work should not be automated.

The Three Ecologies (1989) Félix Guattari (I’ve written a very similar text for a Neighborizome related publication/performance catalogue).

On Plastic in Time a collection of links to different resources which investigate plastic (by Geoff Manaugh).

Douglas Lain interviews Eric Wilson about his book The Republic of Cthulhu (2016). A very useful introduction to para politics. The talk prompted me to think about dark/black-infra (as defined by Eyal Weizman in Architecture of Violence) as Para Infrastructure. Wilson argues that our skills in reading horror-novels and detective stories can offer a way to survive contempary political realities. When we read the crisises of democracy as a horror story we can identify the shapes of non-rational human forces (even non-human) that work in the undercurrents of representative democracy. He also gives a solid explanation on what the spectacle society is.

Got the ALL apps damaged or incomplete issue on my Mac. Managed ti fix it following the protocol (also had to reinstall Mac OS). The process took me over five hours. A horrible ordeal for a Saturday.

We manufactured eight Trans-Horse medals from recycled aluminium with Jesse over the weekend. I’ll send five of them to Brussels to honour the participants of the Trans-Horse Parade. The Parade was a part of a series of horse related performances we prepared for Signal #6 Festival / Cifas last Autumn. Casting the aluminium was relatively easy (we succeeded in making one medal in 20minutes!). The horse in the medal is The Awaited Son (A drawing based on the photo can be downloaded from OpenClipArt). I’m really exited to send a medal to the Cavalry department of the General Reserve of the Federal Police of Belgium! Other recipients are horse stables around Brussels and the staff of the Schaerbeek recycling center.

We are preparing the third Horse & Performance course for the Theatre Academy Helsinki with Pietari.

I’m preparing a performance for the Kone foundation Lauttasaari manor spring party with the Neighborizome crew. Repurposing an old Trans-Horse ethical infta text for a small publication I plan to share with my audience.

Wearing my spring jacket which I surface treated using a boiled linseed & beewax mixture. Spring rain doesn’t penetrate the cotton cloth but the downside is that the jacket smells faintly like freshly cut grass. The wax-coating made the denim fabric darker and the jacket looks cool. Droplets of water stick to the surface, I feel like a cowboy or sailor. Tuned an old hoodie too, lengthened its sleeves and replaced its backside with a lighter fabric (for better ventilation). The jacket and the hoodie work well together.. Only the front and top of the garment is waterproof and the backsides allows inter-garment climate control.

Collected synths and controllers for our Oodi modular presentation from Pasila library. I received a Make Noise 0-Coast and a Arturia Beat Step Pro. They are the first instruments of the Oodi modular system and I’m the first person to loan them! We will use them with Viktor at Kontula Elektronic to demo services that Central Library Oodi studios will offer for library users. I have week to learn how to use them. I’m now a (fake) synth-expert, demoing instruments which I don’t own. I hope someone will make musicmesse-style awkward interview of us.

Preparing for a live radio interview regarding our work (Neighborizome) at the Kone foundation Lauttasaari mansion. I’ll have 5min of airtime to introduce people to Performance Architecture (I’ll refer to Alex Schweder if possible). Used the little time I had to build a case for “new mansion culture”.

I support art price regulation. No artwork of mine should cost more then it costed produce. Labor costs are depend on national avarages (In Finland ~2800€/month). The resale price must be the same as the original. In response to Art + Taxes = The Dirty Truth by The Art Assignment and other similar raports.

Marvin Gaye sings I Heard it Through the Grapevine in an isolated vocal track.

We send an application for the Sculpture Expanded call organized by The Association of Finnish Sculptors with the Neighborizome crew. The proposal has a bodybuilding vibe to it.

The Finnish Performance Art Bank has announced a call for new artwork entries to their sales/promotion/archive site. They’ve joined forces with the Artsi museum: Artist who join the bank (or update their old entries) can also apply as performers for the Performance Days -event (7.6.) held in Artsi. The selected artist will receive a 600€ fee (the jury consists of museum staff and Muu ry members). I think it’s great that there is an open call for a exhibition opening performance (the exhibition will show works by Erkki Pirtola) but I think using the call to lure artists to join the bank is tacky.

My article for Mustekala.org concerning Environmental- / Land Art Conservation is being edited! I got the first edited draft for review on Thursday and promised to send them notes and fixes by Monday.
